چکیده

The paper present a various techniques that enables the investigations of the fetal heart rate (FHR) fluctuations. Later, the common problems associated with these techniques are discussed with some solutions. A non-invasive technique is also proposed for fetal ECG monitoring. The proposed system will be designed to measure the fetal heart rate variability for the evaluation of autonomic nervous system (ANS) and to investigate its development as a function of the gestational age and body mass index (BMI). This will be a real time new method to assess instantaneous fetal heart rate variation (beat to beat) during gestation period with automated analysis of FHR variability using Doppler ultrasound method. The method will consists of three steps: Doppler envelope filter, variable threshold detector and non retriggerable monostable multivibrator having adjustable pulse width for heartbeats detection. The performance parameters will be i) coefficient of variance (CVRR) as an index of parasympathetic activity, and ii) a low frequency/high frequency (LF/HF) ratio as a sympathetic activity. The R–R interval variability will show the variation between consecutive heart beats, change over time was eventually adopted to calculate for timedomain, frequency domain analysis. In the frequency domain analysis power spectral density (PSD) of the RR series will be calculated by analyzing powers and peak frequencies of different frequency bands. Index Terms –Fetal ECG, Ultrasound, FHR, ANS, BMI. ________________________________________________*****______________________________________________

Separation of fetal electrocardiography (ECG) from composite ECG using adaptive linear neural network for fetal monitoring

The signal strength of the maternal ECG (MECG) is usually many times that of the fetal ECG (FECG). Separating FECG from abdominal ECG (AECG) is therefore always a challenge. Some multiple-lead algorithms use the thoracic MECG to cancel the MECG in the AECG to get FECG, though this is inconvenient for the patient during long-term monitoring. Hence, this paper describes an adaptive method to sepa...

A Review of Fetal ECG Signal Processing; Issues and Promising Directions.

The field of electrocardiography has been in existence for over a century, yet despite significant advances in adult clinical electrocardiography, signal processing techniques and fast digital processors, the analysis of fetal ECGs is still in its infancy. This is, partly due to a lack of availability of gold standard databases, partly due to the relatively low signal-to-noise ratio of the feta...

INTELLIGENT TECHNIQUE OF CANCELING MATERNAL ECG IN FECG EXTRACTION

In this paper, we propose a technique of artificial intelligence called adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for canceling maternal electrocardiogram (MECG) in fetal electrocardiogram extraction (FECG).This technique is used to estimate the MECG present in the abdominal signal of a pregnant woman. The FECG is then extracted by subtracting the estimated MECG from the abdominal signal. P...

A PCA/ICA based Fetal ECG Extraction from Mother Abdominal Recordings by Means of a Novel Data-driven Approach to Fetal ECG Quality Assessment

Background: Fetal electrocardiography is a developing field that provides valuable information on the fetal health during pregnancy. By early diagnosis and treatment of fetal heart problems, more survival chance is given to the infant. Objective: Here, we extract fetal ECG from maternal abdominal recordings and detect R-peaks in order to recognize fetal heart rate. On the next step, we find a be...

Independent components analysis for fetal electrocardiogram extraction: a case for the data efficient Mermaid algorithm

Fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring is currently the primary methodology for antenatal determination of fetal well-being. Currently, the FHR can be detected with ultrasonography, but the additional information from fetal electrocardiogram (FECG) is only available via an invasive scalp electrode. A cost effective noninvasive monitoring through standard ECG electrodes could be used on nearly every ...
